KathyRose2 With her innate design sensibility, jewelry designer Kathy Rose got her line launched on the finale of Launch My Line. Hosts and judges, Dan and Dean Caten, thought her Native Rose collection was effortlessly chic, sensual, and streamlined.

After severe time management issues squabbling over design concepts, her team really rose to the occasion.  There was a bit of drama when Jim Tanner, an assistant designer, was late for the final day.  He finally showed up just in time to finish a sleek zebra print strapless dress.

Special guest, Fergie, thought that Kathy’s billowing chiffon dresses were red carpet worthy, and all the judges agreed.  For the win, Rose’s line will be available for purchase on RueLaLa.com and Native Rose will be featured in Lucky magazine.  Kathy Rose’s design expert, Emil Gampe, will receive $50,000 for his marvelous execution.

Coming in second place was Merle Ginsberg’s line of convertible clothing.  Fergie thought the pieces would be great for quick changes during a performance. Judges, Lisa Kline and Stefani Greenfield, appreciated the fashion critic’s ingenuity, but they thought the concept was too gimmicky.  The judges did adore Ginsberg’s cap-sleeved sequined convertible evening gown.  The dress had a removable ruffled chiffon overlay skirt.  Once that layer was off, the drama of the sequined gown was revealed in all its glory.  But wait there’s more -- the gown became a knee-length cocktail dress.  Thai Nguyen, Merle’s design expert, did a masterful job constructing this elegantly innovative gem.

Full of prints, color, and micro minis, Eric Cubeechee’s sexy and sassy collection came in third.  The judges thought the deejay’s line was fun and fresh, but a bit redundant.  Fergie loved the feel of the nightclub inspired KathyRose1outfits.  Unfortunately, for Eric and his designer, Galina Sobolev, her vote did not count.
